Downtown Fitness of Norman offers numerous group classes ranging from beginner “Bootcamp“ to intermediate and advanced “Yoga” and “Cardio Kickboxing“. Most classes are FREE to current members. We also offer Sports Specific Clinics for athletes of all ages. Check our weekly schedule at the front desk for class times and updates.
Body Blast- Instructed by Mark Floyd, owner of Downtown Fitness of Norman, is a class that will fill you with ENERGY! Body Blast consists of light weight training, cardio, kick boxing elements, TRX Suspension Training and Stomp Dancing. This truly unique class will work your ENTIRE body from head to toe! All fitness levels are capable of the “Blast”. Come try it and see for yourself at 6:00pm every Wednesday night!
Hard CORE- A focus on strengthening the bodies core, while building and toning the entire body. The class includes some light weights, over graduation, with free motion exercises. The only limitation is you!
Cardio Pump- We are talking about doing some major body-sculpting and developing some rock-hard abs through Cardio Pump! And, because you will move non-stop from body part to body part, Cardio Pump improves your aerobic fitness level as well, much like a circuit workout. However, don’t confuse Cardio Pump with some boring, circuit routine. Cardio Pump is a wild exercise experience set to the background of the best in edgy music.
Get Physical! Bootcamp, offered by Chad Smith and Mark Floyd, is a military-style program — a circuit of drills ranging from running and jumping jacks to push-ups, squats and sit-ups — appeals to people with busy schedules who need to pack a hard workout into a quick hour.
Cardio Kickboxing combines elements of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics to provide overall physical conditioning and toning. Unlike other types of kickboxing, cardio kickboxing does not involve physical contact between competitors — it’s a cardiovascular workout that’s done because of its many benefits to the body.
Body Pump, offered by Mark Floyd, is a light weight resistance class that strengthens your entire body. This 45-60 minute workout which challenges all of your major muscle groups by using the best health club exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!
Yoga, offered by Shankar Swaminathan, is combination of Ashtanga, Bhikram and Iyengar styles. The class, offered every week, is for beginner to intermediate levels. Take the opportunity to learn an ancient practice at a great place! Join in every Monday at 6:00pm!
ABsolutely Abs- This class is exactly how it sounds: focused core work to build your abdominal region and strengthen your lower back. You can leave your love handles behind after your workout in this class!
Butts and Guts- A killer workout for beginner to advanced exercisers targeting the lower body and the abs. This workout focuses on muscular endurance rather than strength and involves light weights along with higher repetitions.
Zumba- A fun alternative to basic exercise, Zumba uses lively dance moves and energetic music to engage the participant. A Latin-based style of exercise, Zumba routines burn calories and improve coordination. Learn how to do Zumba to refresh your exercise routine.
Zumba Crunch- One hour of Zumba followed by 30 minutes of core strengthening. If you want a smaller waist line, this class is calling your name! As an unconventional abdominal class, you can expect moves beyond the typical mat work. Do not miss out every Saturday morning at 10:00am!
Turbo Kick- This is a high energy, fat blasting, shadow boxing jam session! Burn up to 1000 calories in this class. Be prepared to kick it up a notch!
A.M. Body Factory- A total body workout, consisting of plyometrics, body weight exercises, TRX Suspension Training and more. Kick start your morning and burn calories, tone muscles and get your cardiovascular fix…ALL in 1! See you on Mondays at 6:00am!
HIIT- High Intensity Interval Training, is exactly what it sounds like! This class is made of of four, five minute blocks of intervals sandwiched between a warm-up, abdominals and a cool down. Each five minute block consists of moves designed to increase cardiovascular as well as muscular strength. HIIT is perfect cross training for runners, cyclists and endurance athletes. It is also great for those new to working out. Each move will offer one to three levels of intensity. Come see for yourself!
Pilates- Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the core (everything from shoulders to butt), as well as the hips, thighs, and arms. Emphasis is on spinal and pelvic alignment and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. All levels welcome, as exercises can be modified for more or less intensity.
